Philosophy and goals
COHEHRE is a learning organisation preoccupied with issues regarding the education and training of health and social care professionals across the European Union.
We aim to:
-> provide a forum for raising shared insights
-> of every practitioner and educator within Europe
-> at every level and
-> in every situation
The philosophy is influenced and embodies in ways of working which incorporate key themes from European and Global policy
* European themes
* Inter professional working
* Curriculum development for compliance with EU Policy e.g. Bologna Agreement
* Education Policy
* Health and Social Care Policy
* Globalisation
COHEHRE is a platform for activity
We aim to bring health and social care faculties within Europe together in order to future learning
# Output 1: An annual conference
# Output 2: Projects/publications
# Output 3: Interest group debate
# Output 4: Exchanges
The organisation is supported by a Council which supports and direct a membership of colleagues in the goal to create a learning organization focused upon the development of pedagogy for the health professions.
Benefits to members
Through this organization COHEHRE members can explore the issues that are affecting their schools, their faculties and their students. They can learn through the membership how others are addressing issues of faculty development, curricula change, pedagogical research and development and student welfare.
This is done with reference to how the context of change is realized. This context of change is framed by inter-professional, interdisciplinary, intercultural and interactive and international concerns. And it is through this context that COHEHRE can help individuals and organizations deal with the following for example:
- Professional education and change in health care
- Life-long learning
- Quality assurance
- Research impacts on education
- Practice based learning
Through harnessing the debate which occurs within the interest groups we can see how such issues are played out in terms of faculty development, student learning and experience, curriculum development and management and leadership (our interest groups).
COHEHRE achieves its aims through
-> The COHEHRE Academy
-> An annual conference
-> Alliances with other groups and organisations
-> The work of the COHEHRE council
The work of the organisation focusses on three key areas:
* Management and leadership
* Curriculum development
* Teaching and learning
In order to work in this way members are encouraged to answer the following questions:
- How do we lead and manage our 'schools' in order to participate in this agenda?
- What practitioner should we be producing?
- What staff development is needed?
- What role should teaching staff undertake?
- What research type and focus is needed?
- Who should do this?
- How do we develop the right pedagogy?
- What should our curricula look like?
- How do we move from a national perspective to a European and then international perspective?
